Epistemological Pitfall

Epistemologically, Brandes' analysis is blind to the tourist ritual that occurs simultaneously with the indigenous fiesta. This blindness occurs because of the ethnographers close cultural position to the tourist. The similarity of the ethnographer and the tourist came clear to me when I asked, Nani Maiya Prajapati, a 30-year-old housewife from Suryamadhi Tole, what a tourist was. She pointed at me and said, "They are like you," and then added, "One of my brothers who is a potter has gone abroad, with some Japanese"
